Whether you are a seasoned therapy client or a new patient, each therapy experience is as unique as the individual who enters the office.  Before calling to set up an appointment, it is important to consider what your goals and expectations are for the therapy experience.  You may be struggling with a difficult decision; feeling overwhelmed, depressed or anxious; or caught in a familiar pattern of behavior that you cannot seem to change.  There are many ways to begin the process of therapy and each starting point will lead to rich opportunities to learn more about yourself.

As both an individual and couples therapist, I believe it is important to look at patterns of feelings, thoughts, relationships and behaviors that influence your choices during your day to day life.  As part of the therapy experience we will look at:

  • What factors have influenced your life – past, present, and even future;
  • How you process personal information and what meaning you ascribe to this information;
  • How you identify your feelings;
  • How comfortable you are dealing with contradictory feelings and emotions; and
  • What patterns of thoughts and behaviors are working effectively for you and which ones are interfering in your life.

The measure of our success will be determined both by how you feel and also what you do to create a more rewarding life.   Therapy is a journey that can be creative as well as rewarding and, as you progress, your potential for change may exceed your initial expectations.
