Background
In over 30 years of clinical practice, I have been privileged to work with a wide range of populations, including children and adolescents in the early years of my practice and adults and couples in my current practice. Through all of my clinical experiences, I have been impressed with the enormous capacities that individuals and couples demonstrate for change and adaptability in the face of their difficulties.
My training as a clinical social worker has prepared me well for the work I do. I hold a master’s degree in clinical social work from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and a doctoral degree in clinical social work from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. These studies provided a strong foundation in developmental psychology, personality theory, and social dynamics. I have engaged in in-depth training in couple’s therapy through the Couples Institute in Menlo Park, California since 2007. This work has been rich and diverse and has offered a new dimension to my practice, not only in my work with couples, but somewhat surprisingly, also in my individual work.
I retain an active license as an Independent Social Worker which allows me to function autonomously in a private practice. I am currently actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work and the Clinical Social Work Association.
